#HPCoachella Antarctic has been a Coachella icon for 4 straight years and an attendee favorite, featuring past artists such as Beeple, Android Jones, & more. This year’s dome featured custom scored music by @odesza and animations by Blake Kathryn, Toomuchlag, Jon Noorlander, Florian DKS, Taehoon Park, Catalysee, Luke Penry, Tristan Ferreira, and myself. The final experience was minted on Solana and auctioned as an NFT on FTX. The piece sold for a record setting $145,000 (the highest 1/1 Solana sale) in support of California Reforestation via the Arbor Day Foundation.

In early 2022, I was contacted by the @infinitymarketing team to be a featured artist for HP’s REGEN project at Coachella. During the conceptualization phase, I chose to create for the "Surge" portion of the narrative. Having a background in audiovisual production via my studio, studioziro.com, I wanted to put a lot focus into having different elements react to the score #odesza created for the project. This meant weeks of manual keyframing & testing w/ basic shapes.

The production portion of this piece was highly technical and utilized a blend of techniques and softwares like #Cinema4d #OctaneRender #AfterEffects

Considering I needed to render almost a minute of custom 5k content, I needed a little bit extra help on the hardware front to meet my deadlines. Thankfully, HP saved the day by providing a beefy workstation and 4k monitor to assist with producing the project. Also super thankful to @RenderToken #RenderNetwork who provided RNDR credits for myself and other artists to help squeeze out those last minute frames and edits. Always grateful to have their support and assistance during those last minute crunches XD

To close, this project was a dream to be a part of and experience IRL. Forever grateful to everyone that made it possible. Special thanks to HP, the Infinity Marketing team, Tristan Ferreira, Joy Elett, & everyone for having me create with you.

A lot of people don't know this, but I grew up painting and illustrating long before I began 3D, digital, and animation work. Last week I messed around with @Procreate to make a digital painting using only 1 preliminary color layer and then only using the smudge brush to shape it. So basically just pulling colors around that were already on the digital canvas. I always loved blending and smudging charcoals with my fingers in art class, something about it felt more controlled and tactile than using a pencil/pen, which while more precise, had less of a connection with the shaping of the work. Anyway, here's "Duality".

This piece was created with an intention to use as many of my different creative skills / software knowledge as possible, while also iterating on years and years of personal aesthetic research. The first step involved sculpting the base mesh, rigging the model, splitting out the designated sections/pieces of the body, and then resuming sculpting and detail using VR / Tilt Brush. From VR, the 3D model was taken back into Cinema 4D for texturing and lighting using Octane Render and hand painted base texturing done in Substance Painter. Once the model and texturing was to my liking, I created a 2D render that I could paint and embellish with the floral pattern tattooed on the model's body. The still was painted on using my iPad/Procreate. From Procreate, the image and background were combined using Photoshop, where I added further detail, texture, and color correction. The final step includes compositing the Photoshop layers and bringing them into Adobe After Effects, creating an additional variant with subtle hair/ribbon animation and a generative glitch/painting-style background.⁠

For the release of her latest album, Neon Jungle, CloZee and team approached us to create an animated music video for her track, "Heya". The creation of the video spanned a single month, and used a blend of game engine/ real-time workflows, as well as more traditional post-compositing for creating the final sequence. To tackle this project, we brought on our long time friends and collaborators at Blunt Action. We utilized the magic of Unreal Engine to create a series of neon jungle environments that served as our foundation content, which was later manipulated and stitched into our envisioned narrative using Adobe After Effects. ⁠

At the end of January, my friends and I threw a music festival in Santa Cruz called Polar Palooza. As part of my creative contribution to the event, I setup a photo/projection studio with Jamie Rosenberg (JAR Photo) and let festival attendees volunteer to model using improvised shoot themes and visual content. ⁠
.⁠
One of the goals of the shoot was to see what sort of results we could get from a compact studio setup that cost under $100. Our setup consisted of utilizing 2 small RGB flood lights from Amazon, 8x10' collapsible backdrop frame, and 8'x15' black backdrop. Jamie brought along his trusty camera and I brought a 1024x768 Hitachi Projector (old school) I had laying around for the projection mapping portion. From setup to teardown, the shoot lasted roughly 4 hours and we managed to get through over 15 unique models.⁠

After the start of the new year, we were approached by @ferrycorsten and @redlightmgmt to create a cinematic teaser for Ferry's upcoming project, What the F. Working off character sketches provided by @oskadesign we set forth to develop a grungy and urban-style, audioreactive environment complete with ground up character modeling, rigging, clothing design / simulation, and animation. To accomplish this task, we utilized Cinema 4D, Octane Render, Marvelous Designer, and Adobe After Effects.
